QUILT BLOCK MANIA JULY 2022
Welcome to another Quilt Block Mania! For this month, July 2022, the theme is music, and there are so many fun blocks to grab and try out!
ROCK 'N' ROLL APPLIQUÉ BLOCK
I tend to lean towards traditional piecing in my quilting, but I also love to sew with appliqué templates. This month, I created a Rock 'N' Roll block inspired by my son Ben's love of rock music (he's only 7, but the kid loves rock 'n' roll jams!).
This appliqué template features a custom hand lettered design by me, Sherry, the owner and designer behind BoBerry Design Co.
I decided to switch it up and make an appliqué template using only text to create a bold style design that matches the mood of rock 'n' roll music.
TURN YOUR 12" BLOCK INTO A BANNER
I turned my block into a fun banner wall hanging so I could hang it up in Ben's room. If you're interested in learning how I did it, check out my blog post on how to turn any quilt block into a banner wall hanging here. It comes with a free template to get the point just right for a 12" block.
ADD A SLEEVE TO HANG
And, I even added a sleeve to the finished block to make it easy to hang. If you're interested in learning more on adding a sleeve to a finished quilt, I'll be sharing more on that in a few weeks!
